Poquott Art Acquisiton

A historically important collection of 70 photographs depicting Poquott’s early days has been received by the Village. The pictures had been exhibited in the Port Jefferson Village Center’s Poquott Show to wide acclaim.

We are grateful to Mary Sabatelli, who underwrote the original exhibit in Port Jefferson, and to Jim McNamara who has kept the photographs stored safely. Thanks also to Hank and Theora Ryon and their talented photographer son Chris for their advice in selecting and mounting the photographs, and to all the residents of Poquott who searched their archives for photos that were replicated in the exhibit. A selection of the photographs will be displayed in Village Hall on April 17, 2010 during our Earth Day Open House.

The collection will be rotated every few months, so that eventually most of the photos will be displayed, and a selection will then be permanently installed in Village Hall.

Open House at Village Hall

Come see what $100,000 in renovations from the LIPA/KeySpan Settlement Agreement have done to create a bright, welcoming home for our Village Employees, Building Department, Code Enforcement, Village Court, Board and various committee meetings and community events. Village Hall is now handicapped-accessible, including a sparkling new bathroom, and has a clean, dry basement for storage and archiving records.

Peruse the Photography Exhibit and mingle with the dignitaries.
