MINUTES OF THE JUNE 11, 2009 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT VILLAGE HALL AT 7:00 P.M.
Present was Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Lane, Carol Castillo, Sandy Nicoletti and Christine Vitkun. Also present were 6 residents. Village Attorney Peter Sverd was excused.
A motion was made by C. Castillo seconded by C. Lane to pay bills totaling $15,886.75 and $282.71. Aye C. Castillo, C. Lane, S. Nicoletti, C. Vitkun and B. Donovan. Nay 0.
Other Business
Boat Ramp: The boat ramp has remained cleared of sand since it was cleaned.
Our handyman will place an apron on the top of the boat ramp once the weather cooperates.
B. Donovan is to speak to Kent Valdez of Pristine Property Care LTD regarding the recent bill and items they did not perform per their contract. In addition, the two recent jobs that were completed need to be placed on separate bills as they were separate jobs.
California Park Plantings: We are still waiting for the proposal from Pristine Property Care, LTD.
California Park: D. F. Stone has requested the final payment of $600.00. They have completed their required work. The broken shower head and other broken faucets need to be repaired at the Village’s expense. A plumber is to be called in for the repairs.
Comprehensive Master Plan: The committee has met again and is in the process of preparing a survey that will go to all Village residents. The survey is to be reviewed by the Board of Trustees prior to being mailed to our residents. The Clerks office will do the mailing for the committee. C. Lane is compiling an inventory of the Village.
Dyers Court: The residents have been notified that the work will continue on Friday, June 12, 2009 and it is expected to be completed by Saturday June 13, 2009.
The regular scheduled drain cleaning should begin once the water has receded.
New Street: There was a discussion regarding the runoff of water to the drains located on New Street from Maple Avenue. B. Donovan is to call our engineers regarding a study that was previously done. The drains on New Street are cleaned regularly.
Van Brunt Manor Walkway: Tabled to a later date.
Steve’s Path: B. Donovan is to call Pristine Property Care about refurbishing the path.
Pot Hole Repair: Lois Mitchell is to make sure all the pothole repairs have been done.
Fax Machine: The new fax machine is working great.
Handyman: New lids have been placed on the garbage cans at our parks. A new can has been ordered for the triangle at Van Brunt Manor Road. The clerk is to look into the possibility of having a second handyman on call.
Website: C. Vitkun would like to set up a meeting with Frank and Joanne from Stafford Associates to look into updating our website. Possibly a meeting could be scheduled for a Tuesday or a Thursday.
Waste Management: Several residents have complained that the cans are being left in the middle of the street. L. Newfield is to contact Maggio Sanitation Services to see if they can place the can closer to the resident’s property.
New Business
Flood Damage Prevention Law: Required by the State. The new law will replace the existing law on our books. A draft of the law needs to be at the DEC by June 25, 2009.
B. Donovan, Sal Alessi, our building inspector, and P. Sverd need to meet to review the proposed law.
Suffolk County Film Commission: The Village needs to adopt rules for any media company wishing to film in the village. This is to be tabled until our next meeting.
Boat Rack Letter: Reviewed the proposed letter that would go to violators of boat racks. B. Donovan to sign the letter.
Permits: No new permits.

Public Comments
- Resident: David Johnson from Coastal Steward was at California Beach looking to see if the location would be good for plantings of oysters. Response: Last year we told him not in our mooring field.
- Resident: The mayor received a complaint that the bio retention pond was filled during the last rain storm. Response: It is doing what it was designed for.
- Resident: Port Jefferson Village has completed a floating dock. This dock is to accommodate a 79 foot schooner for public excursions. They have hired an assistant Harbor Master. The annex building is complete and is to be handled by the parks department.
- Resident: Pristine needs to trim the growth going into the road on Van Brunt Manor Road and White Pine Lane. Response: The commissioner will speak to the landscaper.
- Resident: Are any signs going to be put up for voting? Response: The voting notice signs will be placed in the entrance sign slots.
