MINUTES OF THE JUNE 12, 2008 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT VILLAGE HALL AT 7:00 P.M.

Present Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Castillo, Carol Lane and Christine Vitkun. Also present was Village Attorney Peter Sverd and 3 residents. Absent was Sandy Nicoletti.

  • A motion was made by C. Lane seconded by C. Vitkun to expense up to $1,200.00 for the services of Simply Organized Solutions, Inc. Aye C. Lane, C. Vitkun, C. Castillo and B. Donovan. Nay 0.

  • A motion was made by C. Lane seconded by C. Vitkun to purchase new furniture for the offices in Village Hall for a cost up to $3,200.00. Aye C. Lane, C. Vitkun, C. Castillo and B. Donovan. Nay 0.

  • A motion was made by C. Lane seconded by C. Vitkun to purchase a new computer, printer, automatic backup system and installation for a cost up to $2,000.00. Aye C. Lane, C. Vitkun, C. Castillo and B. Donovan. Nay 0.

  • A motion was made by C. Lane seconded by C. Castillo to appoint Kathy Matthews as alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Aye C. Lane, C. Castillo, C. Vitkun and B. Donovan. Nay 0.

  • A motion was made by C. Lane seconded by C. Castillo to appoint Eileen Harvey as Vital Statistic Deputy. Aye C. Lane, C. Castillo, C. Vitkun and B. Donovan. Nay 0.

  • A motion was made to move $100,000.00 from our savings account at HSBC Bank to our MBA Class account by C. Castillo seconded by C. Lane. Aye C. Castillo, C Lane, C. Vitkun and B. Donovan. Nay 0.

  • A motion was made by C. Castillo seconded by C. Lane to expense $1,000.00 to Exterior Construction LLC for the repairs needed at Trustees Park. Aye C. Castillo, C. Lane, C. Vitkun and B. Donovan. Nay 0.

  • A motion was made by C. Castillo seconded by C. Lane to expense $1,400.00 to Exterior Construction LLC for the repairs needed at Trustees Park. Aye C. Castillo, C. Lane, C. Vitkun and B. Donovan. Nay 0.

  • A motion was made by C. Castillo seconded by C. Lane to expense $200.00 for a dumpster needed for the repairs at Trustees Park. Aye C. Castillo, C. Lane, C. Vitkun and B. Donovan. Nay 0

 

APPOINTMENTS:
Kathy Matthews has been appointed as the alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Eileen Harvey has been appointed as Vital Statistic Deputy.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT:
Sal Alessi has obtained the quotes for repair or replacement of the roof at Village Hall. The building inspector is to check 47 Chestnut Avenue to verify that no one is living at the residence as a certificate of occupancy has not been issued.

OTHER BUSINESS:

CALIFORNIA PARK:
Sal Alessi is to check the run off from the construction being done at 47 Chestnut Avenue to see that construction debris is not entering the street and hindering the flow of water to the newly installed drains. Mayors Memorial Park still needs to be re-graded. The striping in the parking will be done shortly; they need to wait until a month after the paving was completed. Carol Lane is to set an appointment with Carol DeSilva from Nelson, Pope and Voorhis to make sure we received the correct plantings. Village Clerk is to contact Bill Thomas of D F Stone to verify that they have removed the sand from the boat ramp.

THREE VILLAGE TRUST DEDICATION:
Is scheduled from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on 6/28/08. Rain date is 6/29/08.

STORMWATER ANNUAL REPORT:
Our open hearing is scheduled for 6/26/08. Carrie O’Farrell from Nelson, Pope and Voorhis will be attending to answer any questions.

APARTMENT LAW:
Reviewed the proposed Apartment Law and it was decided that a public hearing will be held on July 10, 2008.

The resident at 81 Van Brunt Manor Road was given a warning for growth that has gone past the curb into the road. He feels the bushes are on Village property and should be maintained by the Village. C. Castillo to contact our landscaper to have them to trim back this area.

The resident at 18 Chestnut Avenue would like to subdivide her property to build a second home. She was instructed to present her request to the Planning Board.

A motion was made to expand the dinghy rack at California Beach and Walnut Beach by C. Castillo seconded C. Lane. Aye C. Castillo, C. Lane, C. Vitkun and B. Donovan. Nay 0.
