MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 8, 2007 PUBLIC HEARING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT 7:00 P.M. AT VILLAGE HALL

Present Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Castillo, Carol Lane, Christine Vitkun, Village Attorney Peter Sverd and two residents; absent Trustee Sandra Nicoletti.

PUBLIC HEARING—LOCAL LAW ONE OF 2007—A LOCAL LAW AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE TO REMOVE ABANDONED AND INOPERATIVE VEHICLES FROM VILLAGE PROPERTY

The Clerk read to the assemblage the text of Local Law One of 2007.

After discussion by the Board it was determined that section 2.1 Definitions (2) subparagraphs a and b were not written as definitions. The Board requested that 2.1 Definitions be rewritten to correctly define a. Abandoned Vehicles and b. Inoperative Vehicles.

Resident—how does a person know who removed the vehicle and how to get the vehicle returned. Answer- the Public Safety Officers will know that the vehicle was towed and how to retrieve the vehicle.

The hearing was closed on a motion by C. Castillo.

MINUTES OF THE BUSINESS MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT 7:30 P.M. AT VILLAGE HALL

Present Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Castillo, Carol Lane, Christine Vitkun, Village Attorney Peter Sverd and two residents.

BUDGET

  • C. Castillo stated that the budgets for parks and roads would remain the same for 2007-2008 as currently funded. The firm of Nelson & Pope presented a proposal for $1700.00 and $1500.00 to do the Washington Street project engineering. A motion to authorize the Mayor to sign the proposal with revisions by the Village Attorney was made by C, Castillo, seconded by C. Lane- Aye C. Castillo, C, Lane, C. Vitkun- Nay 0.
  • Category A5182.4 will be increased to $11,000.00 for 2007-2008
  • Category A3120.2—a closed circuit tv system should be funded by grant funds and grant funds should be available for a defibrilator to be carried in the Public Safety vehicle.
  • Category A3120.1—new schedules for work weeks will be established and, based on the schedule, a budget amount can be approximated.
  • Category A8510.4—new bids required for landscapers.

OLD BUSINESS

  • General Code—Trustees asked to review draft and prepare responses to questions in summary.
  • ZBA – no candidates for open seat.
  • Unregistered vehicles—9 letters sent out.
  • Verizon meeting— 2/13/07 4 P.M.
  • Code Enforcement—training will be set up.
  • LIPA—settlement being reviewed by State Comptrollers office—call should be made to S. Engelbright to move the issue along.

NEW BUSINESS

  • The Clerk presented a letter from the Civic Assoc. asking for permission to use village property for their meeting and activity dates. Permission granted on a motion by C. Castillo, seconded by C. Lane, Aye C. Castillo, C. Lane, C. Vitkun, B. Donovan, Nay 0.
