MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 14, 2006 BUSINESS MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT VILLAGE HALL AT 7:00 P.M.

Present Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Castillo, Carol Lane, Sandra Nicoletti, Christine Vitkun; also present Village Attorney Peter Sverd and 3 residents.

The appointment of a new Registrar of Vital Statistics is still pending. Two prospects are being contacted for the position.

A new position of Marriage Officer can be created for the purpose of performing marriages in the Village to augment the Mayor’s ability to perform marriages. The Mayor stated that it could be a one year term by appointment, discussion followed.

NEW BUSINESS

  • Discussion on bonuses for the Public Safety Officers ended with a decision to allot a bonus of 4 hours pay per officer on a motion by C. Castillo, seconded by C. Vitkun, Aye C. Castillo, C. Lane. S. Nicoletti, C. Vitkun, B. Donovan, Nay 0.
  • League of Women Voters—wants the Village to volunteer to edit the judicial chapter.
  • VanBrunt Manor Road triangle—runoff channel is clogged up and algae is forming on the surface of the water in the channel.
  • Storm Water Phase II—third annual report will be posted on the web site.

OLD BUSINESS

  • Broadwater letter—original letters will be prepared and left at Village Hall for the trustees to sign. The Village can also apply to be an intervener in the approval process.
  • Renovations—plans still not completed.
  • Center lines/ Stop Lines—all lines requested have been completed. A review will be done to see if any other lines are needed.
  • Roadside litter—all of Poquott’s roads have litter on the roadsides. Residents should be asked to clean-up in front of their property.
  • Audit report—not in yet (Clerk to call the audit firm).

Permits—two permits for renovations issued. One new permit still awaiting info for engineers and one new permit will be denied and the applicant will request a ZBA hearing.

CORRESPONDENCE

  • ICC- CD received for Building Code review.
  • Broadwater – CD received for informational review.
  • North Shore Heritage—their application with the state in process.
  • Water Borne—High speed ferry possibility?

PUBLIC COMMENTS

  • The “No dog” sign still not installed at VanBrunt. Ans. Clerk will contact handyman.
  • Hydrant Flags—Clerk cannot locate a provider. Mayor will get info from Fire Dept.

The meeting adjourned at 8:35 P.M. on a motion by C. Vitkun
