MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 6, 2005 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT VILLAGE HALL AT 7:00 P.M.
Present Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Castillo, Carol Lane, Sandra Nicoletti, Christine Vitkun; also present Village Attorney Peter Sverd and 6 residents.
OTHER BUSINESS
- Apartments—discussion on legalization and enforcement.
- Storm Water Phase II—review of meeting with engineer’s representative.
- LIPA—agreement discussion- signing to be scheduled for week of October 10.
- Destruction of Village Property—discussion on asking the clerk to send a letter to both parties or having Public Safety issue a summons to both parties. The Board determined that summons should be issued by Public Safety.
NEW BUSINESS
- North Chestnut Ave.—discussion re: obstructions in the R.O.W. Asst. Roads Commissioner asked to look at the tree protruding into the roadway for possible removal as a solution to narrow roadway.
- Building Permit Fee Structure—discussion ended with a decision to place on the 10/27 agenda.
- D.E.C. Meeting—a meeting for review of the duck hunting problem will be set up with D.E.C. and others in the near future.
- The Village Clerk presented a request by a resident to utilize Village Hall for a Daisies meeting. The Board referred the question to the Village Attorney for clarification.
TRAFFIC CALMING
A representative of Nelson Pope & Voorhis, LLC presented a review of Village traffic with recommendations for traffic calming. The problem of speeding cannot be resolved by speed tables as was previously under consideration. Some of the stop signs may be unnecessary and stop lines need to be repainted for visibility. Other suggestions were double yellow lines and edge of pavement lines to regulate the traffic flow. Replacement of all street signs with reflective signage to better show up during night time hours.

- Three Village Preservation Society—upcoming meeting.
- North Shore Heritage Commission—Oct 14 meeting.
- Legislation—re; cable franchise.
COMMENTS
- Resident—the triangle at Van Brunt & Shore needs some tree work.
- Resident—the hedge on the east side of Washington at Rt. 25A needs to be trimmed.
- Resident—the Roadsides Commissioner is aware of the triangle at Van Brunt problem and has made arrangements to have it corrected.
