MINUTES OF THE JULY 14 2005 BUSINESS MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT 7:00 P.M. AT VILLAGE HALL.

 

Present Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Castillo, Carol Lane, Sandra Nicoletti, Christine Vitkun

Village Attorney Peter Sverd and 10 residents.

 

The Mayor requested approval for two appointments;

Planning Board--- George Nichols --- seven year term

Zoning Board of Appeals--- Rob Clark---- five year term

Approved on a motion by C. Lane, seconded by C. Castillo, Aye C. Castillo, C. Lane, S, Nicoletti, C. Vitkun, Nay 0.

 

OTHER BUSINESS

  • LIPA/Keyspan— 7/29/2005 set as signing deadline.
  • Speed Tables—The City of Glen Cove has tables that are eighteen feet in length. Ramp runs 7 ft, crown runs 4 ft. and ramp runs 7 ft.; the thickness of the crown is 4 inches.
  • Belgian Block—Belle Terre doesn’t have block curbs as they are too expensive to maintain.
  • No swimming enforcement—discussion on whether village should attempt to enforce.
  • Parking on west side of VanBrunt Manor Road—village should enforce no parking regulations.
  • General Code—Question—re; special parking, a search of other village laws is being conducted by General Code for the village.
  • Village Calendar conflicts—Meetings scheduled for 4/13/06 moved to 4/6/06 and 10/13/05 moved to 10/06/05

 

NEW BUSINESS

None

 

PERMITS

Four permits are under review at this time. Discussion on process; the clerk and building inspector are qualified to reject an application due to yard requirements rather then have the engineering firm review the application thereby saving the applicant time.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

  • Resident—brought to the Board’s attention what she claimed as harassment of her son on several occasions by public Safety Officers, 6/30,7/3,7/4.
  • Resident—Public Safety issue—fire on VanBrunt Manor Beach indicates better coverage needed.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M. on a motion by C. Castillo.
