MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 10,2005 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT VILLAGE HALL AT 7:00 P.M.

Present Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Castillo, Sandra Nicoletti, Christine Vitkun, absent Trustee Stephen Matthews, also present Village Attorney Peter Sverd and 5 residents.

 

Treasurer J. Lane outlined the chronological order of the budget preparation;

2/8/05 first request for budget numbers of all depts.

3/1/05 review of revenue and expenses

3/20/05 tentative budget filed with the clerk

3/31/05 clerk presents tentative budget to the board.

4/15/05 budget hearing

5/1/05 budget approval.

The board discussed the Public Safety Dept. as to hours and expense of a smart sign.

The Board discussed the addition of two new categories for A) Public Relation $1600.00 for all publications and B) Public Works $3000.00 for handy man. Category numbers will be needed for both items.

Revenue

  • A3005 Mortgage Tax----------------------------------- $60,000.00 proposed income.

OLD BUSINESS

  • LIPA- letters were forwarded to both LIPA and Keyspan CEO’s .
  • Duck Hunting—discussion ongoing with D.E.C. local legislators and S.C.P.D. re; village local laws and boundaries.
  • Drains- the Village Engineer will soon present a comprehensive plan for the Washington Street drains and the erosion problem at California Park.

NEW BUSINESS

  • A roll off waste bin blocked traffic on White Pine Lane recently. Discussion followed.
  • The board discussed the possibility of purchasing either pins or pens to give to volunteers for their service.

CORRESPONDENCE

  • North Shore Heritage hearing.
