MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 12,2006 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF POQUOTT HELD AT 7:00 P.M. AT VILLAGE HALL.
Present Mayor Barbara Donovan, Trustees Carol Castillo, Carol Lane absent Trustees Sandra Nicoletti, Christine Vitkun, also present Village Attorney Peter Sverd and four residents.
BUDGET
- Discussion on scheduling for Public Safety to rework hours and manpower to cover the village and keep within hourly guidelines.
- Roads—discussion was held on possible increase to roads budget. Discussion with Roads Commissioner, Deputy Roads Commissioner and Finance should be scheduled. Urgent need for center line striping and stop line striping should be addressed by the Board.
- Garbage—two packets have been picked up for review by carters.
- Insurance—increase in village liability to five million will increase premium as well as expected increase in overall premiums for total package.
OTHER BUSINESS
- Storm Water Phase II—Discussion on inter municipal cooperation.
- Duck Hunting—letter to all effected residents will be mailed soon. The village should establish boundaries via buoys for the next hunting season to assist in law enforcement.
- Traffic Calming—striping and reduction in number of stop signs will hopefully calm down traffic.
- Trailer on VanBrunt beach—Public Safety notified and resident told to remove the trailer.
- Zoning Board of Appeals—considerations for approval need to be incorporated into local law. The Board discussed holding a public hearing on February 23 , 2006 that would deal with both ZBA considerations for approval and stop sign legislation.
- LIPA—some movement with the agreement. Communications still open with LIPA management.
NEW BUSINESS
- The clerk notified the Board of a resignation on the Planning Board.
- NYCOM—the winter legislative meeting in Albany will be attended by Mayor Donovan and Trustee Nicoletti.
PERMITS
Three permits in final stage of approval.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
- Resident—the holes in Highview Avenue made by KeySpan are still not filled.
- Resident—will the stop sign on VanBrunt Manor road at Highview Avenue stay? Ans. This will be reviewed and discussed by the Board.
