About the Village

Poquott is located in the northern part of the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, between Port Jefferson and Setauket Harbors. It was settled in the 17^th Century by settlers from Connecticut and until the mid 20^th Century was mostly farmland and summer residences.

The Village was incorporated in 1931 and by the 1980s, most of the Village was developed for year round residences, which now number about 950.

Residents enjoy parks, beaches, tennis courts, community gardens, playgrounds, a boat launch, and mooring rights in the two harbors.

Poquott is part of the greater Three Village area, near the State University of New York, and served by the Three Village School District.
